Historic investment in SF streets

With Mayor Lee’s support, San Francisco approved the 2011 Road Repaving and Street Safety Bond, a $248 million to carry out vital repaving projects on the City’s streets and highways. The Mayor has complemented that measure with historic investments, which includes $90 million over the next two years for street resurfacing projects.

Free Muni

Mayor Lee helped lead an effort to provide free Muni service for passengers with disabilities, youth riders and senior citizens. The service provides low-to-moderate income passengers in those groups with free, unlimited service on all Muni transit lines.

Addressing Traffic Congestion

Last year, San Francisco received an $11 million federal grant to study innovative new traffic reduction projects. The package of programs includes new connected High-Occupancy Vehicle lanes for public transit vehicles, new autonomous shuttles serving Treasure Island, and smart traffic signal technology to speed up car traffic.
